Get Ready to Level Up! A brand new adventure awaits in Pokémon GO as we journey towards Level 80! On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, prepare yourself for an exciting new leveling experience packed with fresh rewards, stylish cosmetics, the introduction of the Daily Adventure Egg, and much more. Let's dive in!
New Level Cap: Level 80
The biggest news? The Trainer level cap is increasing from Level 50 to a whopping Level 80! This means a complete rebalancing of the leveling system, designed to help you level up and snag those rewards more frequently. You'll find a host of new goodies, including expanded storage for your Pokémon, items, gifts, and postcards. Plus, get ready for some fresh avatar items starting at Level 25!
- Important Note: This level cap increase only affects your Trainer level, not the levels of your Pokémon.
How Will This Affect Your Trainer Level?
When the update goes live, all the XP you've already earned will be applied to the rebalanced leveling curve to determine your new Trainer level. Don't worry, no one will lose levels!
- No players will drop in level.
- The XP needed for your next level may change.
- Trainers at Level 23 or higher will gain at least one level.
- Level-Up Research tasks for Levels 41 to 50 will be removed.
- New Level-Up Research tasks will be added for Levels 71 to 80. These are brand new, not the old Level 42-50 tasks.
- You'll retroactively receive the new avatar and storage rewards for all the levels you've already passed.
Daily Adventure Egg
Starting at Level 15, you'll receive a free Daily Adventure Egg! This egg hatches a Pokémon and earns you 10,000 XP.
- The Daily Adventure Egg will automatically be placed in its own Incubator when you log in for the first time each day.
- You can only hold and incubate one Daily Adventure Egg at a time.
- It hatches after walking 1 km.
- It doesn't count towards your current Egg storage.
- The Daily Adventure Egg will feature First Partner Pokémon from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue through Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
The Incubator for the Daily Adventure Egg can only be used with the Daily Adventure Egg.
Pro Tip: Make sure Adventure Sync is activated so your steps are counted even when the Pokémon GO app isn't open!
New Avatar Rewards
Show off your style! Starting at Level 25, you can earn a variety of new avatar rewards to customize your look. Here's the breakdown:
- Level 25: Poké Ball Cap
- Level 30: Poké Ball Shoes
- Level 35: Poké Ball Jacket
- Level 40: Great Ball Cap
- Level 45: Great Ball Shoes
- Level 50: Great Ball Jacket
- Level 55: Ultra Ball Cap
- Level 60: Ultra Ball Shoes
- Level 65: Ultra Ball Jacket
- Level 71: Level 71 Shoes
- Level 73: Level 73 Shade
- Level 75: Level 75 Pants
- Level 77: Level 77 Pose
- Level 79: Level 79 Hairstyle (Short) and Level 79 Hairstyle (Long)
- Level 80: Level 80 Jacket
New Leveling Up Rewards
Leveling up will now provide you with increased storage for Pokémon, items, gifts, and postcards. The best part? This extra storage is free and will exceed your current storage limits!
Increased Chance of Lucky Friends at Level 70
Trainers at Level 70 and higher will have an increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends with those they've reached Best Friend status with. This is great news for those seeking to trade powerful Pokémon!
New XP Level Requirements
With the new level cap, the XP requirements for various levels have been updated. Here's what you need to know:
- Level 10: 48,000 XP
- Level 20: 258,000 XP
- Level 30: 1,083,000 XP
- Level 40: 3,953,000 XP
- Level 50: 12,753,000 XP
- Level 60: 34,353,000 XP
- Level 70: 85,853,000 XP
- Level 80: 203,353,000 XP
Reaching Levels 71 to 80 requires both earning a certain amount of XP and completing new Level-Up Research tasks at each level.
Important Note: The Tasks for Level-Up Research for Levels 41 to 50 will be removed, and only associated with Levels 71 to 80.
Other Important Information
- Avatar items earned by reaching Levels 40 through 50 before this update won't be available from leveling up after October 15, 2025.
- You will no longer be able to earn the Level 50 Jacket through leveling up.
- You'll keep any items, poses, or other level-up rewards you've already earned, including the Level 50 Jacket.
- You'll still start earning Candy XL at Trainer Level 31.
- You'll still need to be Level 40 to power up your Pokémon to Level 40.
- Previously, upon reaching Trainer Level 50, you would achieve an encounter with Mewtwo. This Mewtwo encounter will now be achieved at Trainer Level 80. Trainers who previously achieved this Mewtwo encounter at Level 50, will only receive additional candy at Level 80, and not another Mewtwo encounter.
XP Celebration Ultra Box
